Solar activity quieted down over the past week. There were no sunspots on Wednesday and Thursday, October 6-7, and the average daily sunspot number declined nearly 18 points to 27.6, compared to the previous week. Average daily solar flux values were off over three points to 81. Predicted solar flux for the next ten days, October 8-17 is 76, 78, 78, 80, 80, 80, 80, 82, 81 and . . .

HF radio conditions were good over this past week, with average daily sunspot numbers up more than five points to 45.3, and average solar flux rising 1.5 points to 84.4. On Wednesday, September 29 solar flux was 90.7. The last time flux values were nearly this high was August 7 at 90.5, and it last topped this value at 91.8 on March 13, 2010.

Average daily sunspot numbers this week dropped nearly 23 points to 15.6, and geomagnetic indices were quiet. The average daily solar flux was 78.1, but the latest prediction from USAF and NOAA is for rising solar flux values. The September 17-23 projection has solar flux values at 85, 85, 86, 86, 86, 87, and 88, which is well above last week’s average. Solar flux hasn’t been to 88 . . .

Over this past week four new sunspot groups appeared. Group 1101 was already in place since August 24, and 1102 emerged on August 29. On September 1 both new sunspot groups 1103 and 1104 appeared, and on September 2 sunspot group 1105 arrived. Over August 26 to September 2 the daily sunspot numbers were 23, 11, 11, 25, 28, 27, 51, and 52 and over those same eight . . .
